《傲慢與偏見》本是英國女作家簡·奧斯?。↗ane Austen)的一本小說，后來被改編為一部電影。年輕的導演喬·懷特是英國從事電視劇的導演，而這部影片是他電影處女作。
這部電影由第一個鏡頭開始，攝影機一路遠景跟拍伊麗莎白，當她走過家門，攝影機又不拍她，而是筆直地進入班內特家里，轉拍班內特家里的情況。穿堂過屋，可以看到彈鋼琴的簡，看報紙的班內特先生，從窗口可以看到伊麗莎白經過。攝影機在屋里停留了一段時間，才交代了班內特家的大概布局，然后再穿過走廊，來到屋外接著拍伊麗莎白。這樣的長鏡頭，難免有點讓人不耐煩，而且這樣，觀眾也沒有那么容易進入影片所設置的情境之中。
在《傲慢與偏見》這部影片中，凱拉·奈特莉扮演伊麗莎白，無論從外形與性格上，凱拉·奈特莉都顯得比較現(xiàn)代。她把伊麗莎白演繹成活潑風趣，非常討人喜歡。小說中的達西是一個十分自傲的伯爵，反而電影中的達西有點沉悶木訥，似乎傲氣不足，其實在許多情節(jié)里，達西都可以表現(xiàn)出高傲的氣質，但演者都忽略了，使得這部電影的達西缺乏了應有的生氣。電影就是時代的反映。賓利像個不諳世事的小男孩，與年長穩(wěn)重簡配對，暗含著現(xiàn)代流行一時的姐弟戀，還有開明的鄉(xiāng)紳班內特先生也是。每個時代的電影都無法擺脫當時的社會潮流、風俗趣味。簡·奧斯汀的故事大同小異，講的都是落魄貴族的女兒們在尋覓體面夫婿過程中發(fā)生的恩恩怨怨，她不像瓊瑤筆下的女主人公那樣風花雪月，不食人間煙火，而是要求物質與感情雙豐收。整部電影都沒有回避人物對物質、身份方面的追求，如伊麗莎白游覽達西豪宅后的心理變化是真實可信的。夏洛蒂迫不及待地嫁給柯林斯的倉促決定也是可以理解的，她比伊麗莎白年長，短暫的青春再也經不起蹉跎了。甚至班內特太太嫁女心切的不得體行為也是符合作為一個無法提供豐厚嫁妝的母親焦灼心態(tài)。
電影中的情節(jié)總是令人回味無窮。首先，舞會就是《傲慢與偏見》的一大亮點，尤其伊麗莎白與達西跳舞時，兩人產生心電感應，四周人們憑空全都消失了，舞廳中只余下兩人深情凝視，手拉著手翩翩起舞，沉醉于歡快的音樂旋律之中。但沒過多久，周圍嘈雜的人群一下又出現(xiàn)了，兩人倏地從幻覺中驚醒，互相對望，恍若隔世。其次，英格蘭的田園風光也非常美麗，山色青翠，風光旖旎，湖光山色美不勝收，配合浪漫的愛情故事，和優(yōu)雅的古典衣裙，那真是唯美浪漫的極致。

在一望無際的平原上獨立著一棵枝葉扶疏的大樹，一輛載著紳士淑女的古典雙輪馬車從樹旁疾馳而過，美麗得就象是一場遙遠的夢境。最后從貝奈特家到賓利家到達西家，從最普通的英式農家小院到上層社會豪華貴族般的莊園，處處體現(xiàn)著19世紀英格蘭紳士般的優(yōu)雅和從容。
我們都是生活在繁華鬧市中人，擁擠的人群和雜亂的交通已經讓我們不堪其擾。然而在《傲慢與偏見》中看到成群結伴的鴨鵝，高聳入云的樹木，波光粼粼的湖面和矮矮短短的小木橋，青青翠翠的草，我們就能夠從內心感到那份渴望已久的寧靜。，喬·懷特導演把一部中篇小說拍成2小時的電影，里面有很多情節(jié)都沒有進一步探究，畫面的剪接也不太好，但是在總體上說，這部《傲慢與偏見》是拍得非常成功的。

The eential reason was the low social position of the the ladies in the upper cla only played the role of a this kind of marriage is surely a tragedy of modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people's lot of parents try hard to interfere their children's background, poeions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s for money is still a big problem in our can’t help thinking: can money determine everything? From my opinion, I do not agree with this think I can only get married because of love, and I'll never choose this kind of marriage under any situations.
